Dyslexia Portfolio Parent Report

The parent report has been added to the teacher report. This will enable feedback to be given to parents that relates directly to the assessments taken by their child. The report is in addition to the teacher report and is presented as a separate PDF that can be saved and filed or printed and given in its entirety to parents. Alternatively, parts of the report may be incorporated into a new report: the PDF cannot be edited at present, however.

The parent report starts with some general information including why the Portfolio has been used, what it measures and how the information it yields can be interpreted. There is a summary of scores in a chart and then text which describes each cluster and gives a level for the student that is either low (standard score below 80), below average (80-89), average (90-109), above average (110-119) or high (120+). There follows bullet pointed guidance for parents on how they can help their child and support the school’s work at home.

The report is rounded off with some general advice on approaches for parents.

The scores are presented as standard scores. A parent report will be generated only for students with Dyslexia Index of C, D or E (mild, moderate or severe) but the Index is not included on the parent report.

The guidance is generalised and does not attempt to differentiate between the different levels of dyslexia that may be present. Each cluster has been treated separately and where a child is in the average, above average or high range no advice is given. Here is an example of a parent report that would be generated for a child with mild dyslexia.

You can generate the Parent Report via the Report Generation Tool.
